Job description: Plant Room Operator (JB4913)Malmesbury, Western CapeR12 000 CTC per monthPermanentOur client, a well-established leader in the meat industry, recognized for their commitment to quality and operational excellence, is seeking a plant room operator to join their team.The Plant Room Operator will oversee the operation and maintenance of the refrigeration plant at the Malmesbury facility. This includes planned and unplanned maintenance tasks, monitoring equipment, and ensuring adherence to safety and quality standards. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical expertise in refrigeration systems and a proactive approach to problem-solving.Minimum Requirements:MatricValid driver’s license and own vehicleMillwright or electrician trade test certificate, with safe ammonia handling training3 – 5 years technical experience in refrigeration systems.Experience in piping, plumbing, and refrigeration systemsStrong knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety ActFamiliarity with food and safety standardsKey Responsibilities:Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on refrigeration plant systems and related equipment.Accurately complete and submit all job cards for maintenance tasks.Ensure timely and efficient resolution of maintenance work issued.Conduct inspections and complete maintenance check sheets accurately and promptly.Respond promptly to breakdowns and minimize downtime.Record and report all downtime incidents accurately for review.Monitor and document refrigeration plant temperatures, pressures, and fluid levels.Conduct daily inspections of refrigeration equipment, including valve stations, piping, condensers, and drip trays.Report and address any irregularities or deviations in system performance.Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures, reporting any deviations.Avoid rework by delivering quality results the first time.Ensure equipment remains leak-free (oil, water, ammonia, compressed air).Be available to work overtime as required to meet operational demands.Participate in the standby roster and respond promptly to callouts.Complete standby forms with accurate details of activities performed.Adhere to and enforce safety, health, environmental, and quality standards in all tasks.Please do not apply using Scanned CVs, no supporting documentation is required at this point, this will be requested later.IMPORTANT: We specialize in specific niche fields.
