PermanentOur client, a well-established leader in the meat industry, recognized for their commitment to quality and operational excellence, is seeking a plant maintenance technician to join their team.The Plant Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing planned and unplanned maintenance activities, ensuring the operational reliability and safety of equipment and facilities. This includes preventive and corrective maintenance, managing a maintenance team, and maintaining compliance with SHEQ standards. The ideal candidate has strong technical expertise, supervisory experience, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.Minimum Requirements:
Matric
Valid drivers license and own vehicle
Millwright or electrician trade test
3 – 5 years electrical/ mechanical experience
3- 5 years supervisory experience
Experience in piping, plumbing, and refrigeration systems
Strong knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Act
Familiarity with food and safety standardsDuties and Responsibilities:
Perform preventive and corrective maintenance tasks efficiently and promptly.
Accurately complete and submit job cards for all maintenance activities.
Prioritize and manage maintenance tasks effectively based on resource availability.
Ensure maintenance checklists are thoroughly completed and returned.
Respond promptly to breakdowns, minimizing downtime and ensuring swift resolutions.
Accurately record and report details of all downtime incidents.
Maintain a high standard of quality in all maintenance and repair work performed.
Maintain cleanliness and organization in all maintenance areas, ensuring a safe and tidy work environment.
Take full ownership of the designated facility, ensuring it operates in line with company standards.
Monitor and maintain compliance with company policies and procedures.
Be available for standby duties as required to address urgent maintenance needs.
Regularly inspect and maintain area temperatures to ensure compliance with operational specifications.
Supervise and lead a team of maintenance staff, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.
Monitor and manage staff attendance, timekeeping, and task completion.
Conduct follow-ups on completed work to ensure quality and adherence to standards.
Adhere to and enforce company SHEQ policies and procedures in all maintenance activities.
