Job description: A Guest House situated in Rosebank, Johannesburg seeks to appoint an experienced Guest House Manager. The Guest House is close to Sandton CBD and The Rosebank Mall.Key Responsibilities
- Oversee all operations including accounting, reservations, check-in/check-out, guest relations, housekeeping, breakfast service, stock-control, maintenance, marketing, service improvement and staff management.
- Manage and train staff and co-ordinate staff activities.
- Daily cash-ups, petty cash management, purchases of daily essentials, reconciliations; and financial reporting.
- Maintain and manage inventory and stock.
- Manage guest relations and attend to special guest requests. Resolve guest complaints promptly.
- Manage on-line and other guest reviews and feedback to improve services.
- Assist to promote and market the Guest House.
- Coordinate housekeeping and maintenance to ensure the Guest House is clean, safe, and well-maintained.
- May occasionally assist with meal preparations for guests or to make arrangements for meals.
- Ensure compliance with statutory requirements including health and safety.
Requirements:
- Previous experience as a Manager in a Guest House, Lodge or Boutique Hotel.
- Strong administrative and financial skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage warmly with guests and lead a team.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word and Excel), email, and booking software.
- Normal working hours are from 06h00 to 16h00 (Monday to Friday) but must be flexible to work other shifts over weekends and public holidays.
- Ability to stay in the Guesthouse for a weekend shift every second weekend.
