Job description: Job Description :We are looking for a Bookkeeper who will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records and supporting the financial health of the NGO. The ideal candidate will have experience with Sage Intact, as this is the primary accounting system they use.Responsibilities:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records for the organisation.
- Books to balance sheet.
- Manage day-to-day financial transactions, including invoices, payments, and receipts.
- Reconcile bank statements and ensure that all financial data is accurate and aligned with the organisation’s records.
- Prepare monthly financial reports, balance sheets, and income statements for management review.
- Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and forecasts.
- Monitor and manage accounts payable and receivable, ensuring timely and accurate payments.
- Provide support for audits and ensure compliance with all financial regulations and best practices.
- Ensure proper documentation and filing of all financial transactions and supporting documents.
- Collaborate with the finance team to identify opportunities for cost savings and financial efficiency.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Bookkeeper or similar role, preferably in a non-profit or NGO setting but not essential.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Bookkeeper
- Strong proficiency in Sage Intacct accounting software (essential).
- Knowledge of general accounting principles and practices.
- Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines efficiently.
- A proactive approach to problem-solving and decision-making.
- Relevant qualifications in Accounting or Finance (e.g., Diploma, Degree, or other certifications).
- Payroll is outsourced, so the Bookkeeper will not be responsible for payroll functions.
BenefitsOpen to a part-time role, salary would be commensurate with hours, however please note if part-time option is selected it will be in-office daily.If full-time hours are selected it will be 2 days in the office and 3 days remote, printing and wifi will not be covered by the organisation in this case.
Expected salary: R25000 – 30000 per month
