Printing estimating experience would also work wellAre you a detailed oriented with a positive outlook on life and 1-3 years of experience in an estimating position?My client has a position for a Junior Estimator with these attributes and who has comprehensive knowledge of ERP SystemsThis person must have advanced skills on Excel and PowerPoint and good communication skills. The successful person will also be deadline driven and always meet their target dates. They would be able to prioritise, manage conflict and be able to negotiate.Matric / Grade 12 is non-negotiable.What will this person be responsible for?
- Operational efficiency and excellence
- Production costing knowledge: the ability to read engineering drawings, understand a Bill of Materials (BOM) and apply the best (LEAN) manufacturing processes and materials to ensure a cost-competitive solution.
- Temporary and Permanent costings: the ability to output production costing models to provide accurate and detailed cost estimates to stakeholders
- Input costing knowledge: the ability to revise and challenge all input costs associated with a Cost Estimate (CE). Ensuring the Costing Model is updated and accurate at all times.
- Document management: the ability to accurately file and store data about Request For Prices (RFPs) – local and international, CEs, quotations and any relevant documentation about a CE.
- Innovation:
- To provide innovative ideas about the products and services offered by Barrows. This relates to the materials, business processes and outsourcing activities.
- Industry knowledge:
- Continue to develop industry knowledge by visiting suppliers, conducting trade visits, and keeping abreast of credible information about industry changes.
- Supply chain management:
- An understanding of both material and process suppliers the offerings they provide, and the costs of these offerings.
- Networking and collaboration:
- Continued relationship building with new and/or existing suppliers and clients.
- The application of collaborative-negotiation (win-win) approaches benefits Barrows, suppliers, customers, and the environment.
- Cost Analysis:
- Provide basic analysis information between cost and sell prices for processes and materials, and the details thereof.
