Job description: Are you a talented Sous Chef seeking a new and exciting challenge? Kendrick Recruitment is looking for a dedicated Sous Chef to join a luxury game lodge located in the breathtaking Eastern Cape. If you have a passion for food, a love for the bush, and a desire to deliver world-class dining experiences, this could be the perfect opportunity for you!Minimum Requirements:
- A recognised cooking diploma from an accredited training institution
- At least 2 years’ experience as a Senior Sous Chef, or 4-5 years as a Junior Sous Chef in a 5-star establishment or similar high-end kitchen environment
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and oversee food preparation, maintaining 5-star culinary standards in all aspects of kitchen operations
- Supervise and manage kitchen staff, ensuring the kitchen runs smoothly and efficiently, with the ability to step in and resolve any issues swiftly
- Ensure the highest standards of hygiene and safety are maintained within the kitchen at all times
- Be familiar with food costing, ordering processes, stock takes, and FIFO stock control
- Exhibit strong people management and kitchen leadership skills, effectively disciplining underperforming staff and motivating the team to exceed expectations
- Manage and coordinate staff schedules, ensuring the kitchen is adequately staffed and running effectively
- Use your extensive culinary experience across various roles and settings to mentor and coach junior chefs, helping them grow and excel in their roles
