Job Title: Natural Areas Assistant

Job description: Responsible for carrying out the maintenance of natural areas (protected natural
reserves, designated DMOSS, riverine wetland and coastal habitats) and public
facilities in compliance with policies and procedures of Natural Areas within eThekwini
Municipality.
Key Responsibility AreasPrepares for the days work
Maintains allocated small plants and equipment in a clean, functional and safe
conditions
Maintains public land, facilities and infrastructure with natural and DM.O.S.S
areas
Performs Arboriculture, watercourse maintenance and habitat rehabilitation
specific to Natural Reserve/ Aquatic areas and D.M.O.S.S area
Clearing of Alien invasive species and indigenous bush encroachment in
terrestrial and aquatic habitats
Handling, rescuing and relocating animals
Performs general zoological/ enclosure maintenance functions
Undertakes the construction and maintenance of facilities
Assists member of the public with general queries and information
Ensure Occupation Health and Safety regulation are compliedPhysical Requirements:

Essential RequirementsAn appropriate level of primary education.
