Job description: The Department of the Premier, Childrens Commissioner Office, Western Cape Government has an employment opportunity for a dynamic individual to promote the rights and well-being of the children in the Western Cape Province. This post is based in Cape Town, CBD.
Minimum Requirements An appropriate 3-year tertiary qualification (National Diploma/B-Degree or higher qualification) in Social Sciences or related field; A minimum of 1 year relevant experience in a similar environment; A valid driving licence.
Recommendation Tech Savvy; Experience with reference to children rights; Youth and Community Development experience; Child protection experience; Community practices; Experience in writing reports.
Key Performance Areas Support the development and implementation of policies and strategic frameworks; Report on the activities of the Children’s Commissioner; Support the Western Cape Children’s Commissioner functions, as well as Children’s rights with identified audiences; Provide information and advice on children’s rights to persons, institutions or organs of state in the Western Cape whose policies and practices relate to children; Support investigations related to the mandate of the Commissioner.
Competencies Application and understanding of the following legislation: Provincial executive support systems and services; Public communication, public education, public engagement and discourse management processes; Good corporate governance norms and standards; Policies of the government of the day; Needs, interests and rights of children, and stakeholders within the sector; Critical issues and challenges which children face. RemunerationR 376 413 per annum (Salary level 8)Note on remuneration: Cost-to-employer (CTE) remuneration packages for certain occupation-specific dispensations (OSD), the middle-management service (MMS) and contract positions are inclusive of all costs related to service benefits or obligations including basic salary, 13th cheque, medical assistance, housing assistance, pension-fund contributions, etc. MMS remuneration packages are flexible and may be individually structured as prescribed. Where remuneration is not indicated as CTE, employees’ service benefits or obligations are funded or co-funded in terms of the applicable prescripts or collective agreements.
