If youre detail-oriented, analytical, and bring solid experience in short-term insurance accounting, wed love to hear from you.ResponsibilitiesProcurement and SuppliersReview primary source documentsEnsure compliance with Group policies, procedures, budget limits, and Levels of AuthorityVerify completeness of supporting documentationMonitor and enforce supplier payment termsProvide support in other procurement-related areas as neededGeneral Accounting Records and ReconciliationsReview cash books, bank reconciliations, supplier reconciliations, and fixed asset registersProcess and review non-routine/complex journal entriesPrepare and review reconciliation schedules to ensure balance sheet accuracyEnsure accuracy of intercompany and related party transactionsPerform calculations for amounts recognised in recordsReview payroll information and Group instructionsValidate customer and supplier age analysisAssist in other accounting functions as neededManagement InformationPrepare accurate and timely management accounts, forecasts, budgets, and supporting schedulesDevelop and maintain management reporting templatesSupport executive management with required financial reportsSales FunctionPrepare and maintain revenue calculations and supporting documentationValidate inputs used in system-generated revenue calculationsOversee collections from customersMaintain summaries of Assets Under ManagementTreasury and Financial SoundnessReview bookkeepers treasury-related functionsEnsure accuracy in cash flow forecasts (short and long term)Monitor financial soundness requirements (liquidity, solvency, etc.)May act as a releaser of payments on banking platformsTaxationPrepare VAT reconciliations, tax computations, and DWT returnsMaintain accurate SARS balancesEnsure timely submission and payment of all tax obligationsMaintain valid tax clearance and address audit queries promptlyAudit and Year-EndServe as the primary point of contact for auditorsPrepare annual financial statements and ensure timely submission of audit requirementsSpecial ProjectsLead execution and daily monitoring of assigned financial projectsStrategic and Other AreasParticipate in strategic meetings and provide analytical inputPresent and train peers and subordinates as requiredCollaborate on policy and strategy developmentOther Company SpecificAdditional duties to be specified by the division
Requirements
- BCom or BCompt (Accounting) or equivalent
Accountant I: Completed articles or 5 years experience in bookkeeping/accountingAccountant II: Completed articles and 3 years experience or 8 years in bookkeeping/accountingAdditional Requirement: Experience in the short-term insurance industry is essentialAccounting principles and practicesProficiency in SAGE X3, Excel, Outlook, WordAttention to detail and accuracyPlanning and organisational skillsAdherence to processes and proceduresProblem analysis and resolutionEffective communication skillsAbility to work under pressureMethodical and focused approachTeam collaborationActive learner
