Job description: A busy & popular beach front Hotel consisting of 26 rooms & a large F&B Operation seeks an Operations Manager to have a hands on approach.Hours :
- Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays, and Public Holidays are the busiest days of the week. Duty Managers are available, but candidates will be required to work these days on a roster basis or according to functions. This will include religious holidays such as Easter Sunday and Christmas Day.
- Minimum of 45 hours per week but this may be extended based on occupancies and functions.
Reporting :
- Director on site.
Ideal Candidate:
- Strong leadership skills with good management, training, and organizational capabilities.
- Ability to work under pressure.
- Ability to develop, document and implement standard operating procedures.
- Good understanding of the Hotels reservation systems.
- Good understanding of POS & stock control systems for input and accounts.
- Good understanding of reception and reservations practices
- Good experience in customer relations including the handling of guest complaints
- Must be IT proficient in Microsoft word and excel.
- Must be fluent in English, spoken and written (Spoken and written Afrikaans would be an advantage) with above average grammar skills
- Experience in Food & Beverage Management to train in both restaurants.
Basic Job Description:
- Conferences & Events – Initial engagement with customer, written and verbal communication and follow up, planning and execution, final accounting and customer follow up.
- Staff management – rosters based on occupancy, functions and conferences and time management to ensure limited overtime abuse. Monitoring leave, sick leave etc and relief staff.
- Staff discipline including liasing with HR and being present at disciplinary meeting if required.
- Staff training in all aspects of the hotel and preparing SOP’s for all departments.
- Housekeeping oversight – Liaise with Housekeeper and randomly check all FOH area’s and rooms for quality control. Assist housekeeping with any maintenance issues.
- Back of House oversight – gardens, storerooms, staff canteen and change rooms
- Accounting – Understanding of the Daily Taking Summary, end of day functions, follow up on voids and discounts and debtors control. Understanding and application of the POS and stock control system
- Reservations – Daily checks on reservations received, deposits and payments, room allocations. Understanding and application of the Property Management System – ability to assist receptionists when required.
- Maintenance : oversight and follow up and ensure correct contractors engaged timeously.
- Public Relations – Liaise with inhouse guests and bar and restaurant patrons to ensure customer satisfaction. Liaise with various department heads in the event of a complaint and follow up with guests. Monitor OTA feedback, QR code restaurant feedback and any feedback given directly.
