Key Responsibilities
- Identifying potential risks and analysing their impacts on the organization.
- Creating and implementing a robust risk framework for the organisation.
- Enable the organisation to achieve its strategic objectives in a risk-intelligent manner.
- Providing advice to senior management for decision making.
- Creation and streamlining of audit processes.
- Creating and maintaining risk plans.
- Improve governance and internal controls within the business
Qualifications and professional certification
- A Legal Degree i.e. LLB, LLM or Similar is essential
- An advanced qualification in data privacy and Cyber Security Risk Management is advantageous
- At least 8 years’ experience in a Senior Risk and Compliance Leadership role, preferably within the Financial Services Sector or within one of the major Consulting/Auditing Firms
Essential Knowledge and Skills
- Advanced knowledge and understanding of sound legal, risk and compliance practices including corporate performance reporting.
- Sound knowledge and experience in all relevant legislative requirements as it relates to the role including POPIA and Data Processing requirements.
- Critical thinking, using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
- High degree of transparency and integrity is essential in this role.
- Excellent analytical thinking capabilities in complex situations.
- Well-developed influencing skills across levels in the organisation, to allow for effective direction of the Company’s risk and compliance affairs.
- Exceptional organizational abilities and effective problem solving and decision-making skills.
- Proven leadership of small to medium-sized teams.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Effective networking capabilities.
- A contemporary and balanced approach to risk management
